What could you do with this information next?

In a full game of Fatal Encounters, you could use our online full police database to search for victims in the same demographic. You could confirm this way that you're dealing with a serial killer.

The murder was premeditated and the killer was organised: In the first responder and the emergency call operator both said there was a car alarm blaring. The first responder had to unlock the car to turn it off. Did the killer set the car alarm off, luring the victim into reading the message written in grease, as a distraction to attack him? This, coupled with the fact the killer brought a garrote, are signs of an organised murder.

What could you do with this information next?

The behaviours in a culprit’s crime seep into how they live their day-to-day life. Using the serial killer profiles included in Fatal Encounters, you would be able to better understand the type of killer you are looking for.

The killer could have a loss related to details of the crime/victim: If the killer does have a particular target, what is it about them? The killer mentions on the car’s windscreen that ‘I cost 100 lives’. Additionally, if rich men are being targeted, this could mean there is a money element to the killer’s motive and purpose. Did the killer lose someone or couldn’t save someone due to a financial struggle? Were they scammed or cheated? Are they doing it for society?

What could you do with this information next?

Discovering a potential motive gives you a strong lead to follow. Using evidence in connection with a motive could be used to press information out of people. A common policy tactic to get people to talk. In Fatal Encounters, all persons of interest can be interviewed using cards found in their folders. Some you can press further to get the truth out of them with certain evidence or circumstances you deduce.
